This course covers various stencil making techniques: paper cut stencils, direct crayon resist block out, photographic emulsion techniques. Ink mixing, registration and printing methods will be covered. Supply fee includes use of squeegees, inks, and backboards.

bootcamp: a survey of printmaking • amanda knowles

wednesday, may 14 - june 4, 6pm-10pm
STATUS: open.
This class is and introduction to monotype, linoleum carving, and etching. It will cover both the basics of printmaking (paper and plate preparation, registration, press handling), and the basics of each technique.

MONOTYPE • kathryn trigg

Starting with black & white and simple additive/subtactive techniques, class will focus on color mixing, stenciling, trace monotype, collage, and layering techniques. Use of acrylic plates, ink, some tools and brushes included. Beginners and intermediate welcome!

STATUS: OPEN.
This class will cover etching processes on copper --- dry point, hard & soft grounds, aquatint, and sugarlift. Using low toxicity methods, you will learn plate planning and making, as well as printing techniques. Perfect for beginners; invaluable for returning students.

Imagon Basics: Polymer photoetching • amanda knowles

wednesdays, july 9 - 30, 6pm-10pm
STATUS: OPEN.
Using a light sensitive film, this low toxicity process enables you to make beautiful etchings from a photograph or drawing. Designed for printmaking beginners, this class focuses on plate making, printing techniques, and understanding what makes a good original.

PAPER LITHOGRAPHY • kim van someren

STATUS: OPEN.
Based on the "grease repels water" concept, you will layer colors and images, by inking and printing a common photocopy. Using non-toxic methods, you will create backgrounds and foregrounds with pattern, texture, and color.
No experience necessary.

COLLAGRAPH • Ken Parker

friday, saturday, and sunday, july 18-20, 10am-4pm
STATUS: OPEN.
This method involves using mostly recycled materials and found objects to make dynamic and very individual durable plates for printing. "2D sculpture" is how Ken describes printmaking! No experience necessary.

REDUCTION WOODBLOCK • Jean Gumpper
$230 + $10/supplies
both fees are due when registering
WARNING: Registration closes on monday, july 17, 5pm
friday, august 8, 6-10pm AND
saturday & sunday, august 9 + 10, 10am-4pm
STATUS: OPEN.
Learn multi-color wood block printing with carving just one block. You will print all copies of the edition at once, and proceed to carve again for the next color. The finished print can never be re-editioned, as the blocks were destroyed by the reduction process.

Registration Date:
Registration after dates mentioned above will incurr an additional
$30 fee (as noted above). To benefit the discounted rate
of $30, we must receive your registration a week prior to
class start. If the class is on a week-end, the cut-off
date is the Friday a week before your class.
Cancellation policy:
Due to limited class size and our desire to optimize your
time with your instructor: No portion
of class fee will be refunded or applied to another class if cancellation
occurs less than two weeks before class starts.
Friday evenings -- free studio access
Students get additional studio access on Fridays, 6-10pm from the second week of the quarter until the last Friday of the quarter. RSVP is necessary, please see your confirmation letter for contact details. Currently
enrolled students only.
The studio is available on an 24/7 basis for $130 /month
with a six month commitment
