Dionne Haroutunian, "Bridges" - November 2002
The "Bridges" series finds its inspiration in the US intervention in Afghanistan. In it, I focus on the lives of ordinary Afghanis who tragically went from "having a life" to being refugees. I am also interested in the way our lives are interwoven with theirs. I find myself searching for intimacy through close-up portraits, resolved to highlight our universal similarities.
